What is Ishogi Hina Dolls?

Ishogi Hina Dolls are created by letting dolls "wear" clothes to make them look like humans.

Hinamatsuri (Doll's Festival) has been handed down from our ancestors as an event where we wish for babies' healthy and happy life, and also an important opportunity for children to touch something beautiful. This has also been a part of education at home. Through the precious experiences of displaying hina dolls for celebration and putting important dolls in boxes gently, children can learn discipline, responsibility, and hospitality.

Characteristics of our Ishogi Hina Dolls

1.Beautifully-balanced whole form

From the crown to the pedestal, the whole shape is beautifully composed as a triangle. Within the triangle, the length of the shoulders, the length and the angle of the arms, and the balance of the sitting postures look very natural.

2.Sharp neckline

The crowns of princes are usually tied with strings like the photo below. However, the crowns of our Ishogi Dolls are stabilized to chignons with combs like the way they did in the Heian to Edo period, so the faces and necklines look sharp and make the faces look more attractive.

3. Well-balanced hands that match the body size

The composition and the roundness of hands are calculated to look natural for the body size. The hands are elaborately created in detail including the roundness, wrinkles, and nails. If you look at the hands of male dolls, the right hand holding a scepter looks assertive whereas the left hand pulling kimono looks modest.
